This occurs also, if the application of TimeMachineScheduler is running. It could happen, that the backup volume cannot be unmounted (using the automount feature).As TimeMachineScheduler works independent from the Time Machine Preferences, some information might be displayed wrong in the Preference Pane of Time Machine.The status of the scheduler will be displayed. You can press a button to run a backup immediately. The interval can be set between 1 and 12 hours, and the agent can be set to run additionally at load, which means also at startup and login. You can install and uninstall the agent as well as only load and unload it to disable making backups temporarily. TimeMachineScheduler takes care of all files and sets owner, group and the privileges to the proper default value. There are (still) some access privileges problems in OS X 10.5, if the operation system has been updated, migrated or installed with the archive & install option. When I go to work part of my disconnect ritual after 'disconnect all external stuff', 'throw mouse and power brick into bag', is a step of 'turn time machine off' somewhere between all that and 'disconnect external monitor' before I close the lid and throw it in my bag to take to work. ![]() When I'm home I connect to the Mini and turn on Time Machine and it just works. Repeat for wife's Macbook to the other partition. On next backup Time Machine did partial incremental backup as if it were hooked up directly since it found the appropriate initial full that I did earlier over USB. On MBP connected to share, told Time Machine to use that as the backup volume. Plugged MyBook back into Mac Mini and shared the partitions. Her initial full backup being to the "Jessica's Time Machine Backup" partition. Awhile, but not unreasonable.ĭid the same with my wife's Macbook. Told Time Machine to use "Walker's Time Machine Backup" as it's external backup volume. Found out that there is a problem with Disk Utility formatting disks larger than 500GB. Connected drive (a MyBook, BTW) to Macbook Pro and tried to use Disk Utility to format it as Mac JFS format.
